WHAT'S A PROVIDER

What is a provider?
A provider is a licensed health care facility, program, agency, doctor or health professional that delivers health care services.

Any Doctor, Any Time

As a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas PPO member, you have the freedom to choose the doctors and hospitals that best meet the needs of you and your family.

Here's what you need to know about your PPO coverage:

  • If you visit in-network Doctors & Hospitals, you pay less out-of-pocket, you don't have to file claims and you get the highest level of benefits.
  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas contracts with some doctors and hospitals outside the PPO network to help you save time and money. This program is known as ParPlan.
  • If you visit an out-of-network doctor or hospital, your out-of-pocket costs will be higher, however if you use a ParPlan doctor or hospital, you won't be balance-billed for amounts above the allowable amount and you won't have to file a claim.
