PLANNING |
The Physical Education Department from Gen. R. Sanchez Elementary gives every child the opportunity to improve their Physical, Mental and Social Skills. Every child is challenged through different activities used in our curriculum. We believe that our students will be successful in all the activities and competitions. We also stress to our students that academics must come before athletics.
Our program consists of:
*Presidential Challenge
- This program is set to challenge kids to be physically fit. The students will train, and then tested through different activities. These tests are Sit-ups, Push-ups, Shuttle Run, V-Sit Reach and 1 mile-run.
*C.A.T.C.H. Curriculum
- Coordinated Approach To Child Health is coordinated through four components.
- School Nutrition guides school cafeterias toward promoting a nutrition rich environment
- Classroom that is peer-based curriculum, teaches healthy eating, daily physical activity and tobacco avoidance - habits that prevent chronic disease.
- Physical Education that provides standard based physical education lessons to teach lifelong movement skills which blend both fun and fitness.
- Family at home, the health messages children learn in school are reinforced with interactive and enjoyable Home Team activities .
*Competitions
- Kickball Tournaments
- Cross-Country Meet
- Free-Throw Contest
- Pee Wee Football (Community Action Council)
- Track Meet
*Fund Raisers for the Community
