DEMOGRAPHIC DATA

Grulla Elementary School is located east of the Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District.

The staff includes: 34 regular classroom teachers, 15 instructional assistants, two physical education teachers, one reading coach, two Title I accelerated reading interventionist teachers, one reading/math interventionist, one special education resource teacher, two special education content mastery teacher, one special education self-contained teacher, one dyslexia teacher, one computer lab teacher, one community aide, one secretary, two clerks, one LVN, one CNA, two counselors, one assistant principal, and one principal.

In support of the academic program, the school provides a computer lab for grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. Our school also offers programs such as physical education, Gifted and Talented, U.I.L., counseling (Drug Free), music science lab, and a Nutritional and Health Program.

Grulla Elementary has a peak enrollment of 650 students from Pre-Kindergarten through 5 th grade. The students are of Hispanic descent. Due to its migrant population and the high number of recent immigrants from Mexico, the school has a high mobility rate. To ensure that the needs of all students in the campus are met, the Grulla Elementary staff has aligned the instructional program with campus and district initiatives.
