(August, 2007) --A new year at the Rio Grande City school district is never complete without the official welcome to it's newest members of the family. This year, the 92 new teachers were joined by board and community members at the Multipurpose Center on August 17th.
The room was filled with pure glitz and glamour as the office of Human Resources presented the "Teachers are Great" or "TAG" Awards Theme.
"We are a proud district. We are a humble district and we are also a very successful district.... Welcome and bienvenidos!,” Superintendent Roel A. Gonzalez said.
Following the superintendent's message, several from the community including this year's school board president, took the podium offering inspiration to all those embarking on a new career as an educator.
“You came to a profession that is very rewarding maybe not one that pays much, but one that enriches the heart. In this district kids really do come first,” Basilio Villarreal, school board president, said.
