We invite RGCCISD to UTPA's HESTEC
(August,
2007) -- The University of Texas Pan American in conjunction
with the office of Congressman Rubén Hinojosa has organized
the Hispanic Engineering, Science and Technology Week for 2007
to be held September 24-29th.
This
event emphasizes the importance of science literacy, encourages
students to consider careers in science, engineering , mathematics
and technology, and promotes higher education for all students
and parents.
HESTEC
is an event that allows for many groups from throughout the
Rio Grande Valley to participate.
Whether
they are K-12 students, university students, parents, teachers,
counselors, school administrators, corporate/foundation leaders
or elected officials. The following is a list of the events
scheduled for HESTEC:
Monday,
Sept. 24, 2007 Educator Day
More
than 1,000 teachers and administrators attend workshops to learn
new techniques in teaching science and math.
Congressional
Roundtable on Hispanic Science Literacy A prestigious group
of corporate and government leaders led by Congressman Rubén
Hinojosa convene to discuss issues related to education and
proposed solutions.
College
of Science Symposium & Poster Competition For University
students hear presentations by top researchers and scientists
and participate in a research poster competition. College
of Education Symposium Leading experts in education present
to university students.
